Hello, and welcome! My name is Conor Short- I am a freelance actor and workshop leader, specialising in the study of Shakespeare through acting.

Since graduating from Drama Centre London in 2007, alongside my acting career, I’ve been leading acting workshops on Shakespeare plays. The bulk of my experience comes from being an Education Practitioner at Shakespeare’s Globe, where I’ve worked on and off for the last twelve years. I am also a Learning Consultant, running professional development for teachers, observing and training other practitioners and leading on various projects, from literacy modules for early years to directing summer schools for budding professional actors. I live in London and have a base in Paris, where I regularly run workshops at English-speaking schools.

My workshops are tailored to the needs of the group; they will always be practical, challenging students to explore the text like actors and thinking of the demands of an audience rather than a reader.

I have worked with 5-year-olds, teachers, and every age group in between, always with the same ethos: to make sense of Shakespeare, you have to play. In the words of Hamlet, ‘the play’s the thing’…

Please get in touch if you’d like to know more or to arrange workshops for your students. I look forward to hearing from you.
